Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10/10/2026
This page lists every cookie and every item of browser storage the Groups App website uses, what each one is for and how long it lasts. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information more generally.
1. The short version
- We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember a few choices you make, such as dark mode.
- We do not use advertising cookies. The only cookies set by anyone else are Stripe's, on the payment screens group admins use.
- Our analytics and error reporting do not use cookies at all.
2. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser and reads back on later visits. Local storage does the same job but stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers. We cover both here, because the law treats them the same way.
3. Strictly necessary
The website cannot work without these, so they cannot be switched off from within Groups App. Supabase, which runs our sign-in, sets them on our behalf.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
sb-…-auth-tokenCookie | Keeps you signed in. A large session is split across several cookies ending .0, .1 and so on. | Up to 400 days, or until you sign out |
sb-…-auth-token-code-verifiersb-…-auth-token-flow-…-code-verifiersb-…-auth-token-flows-code-verifierCookie | Checks that a sign-in, sign-up confirmation or password reset finishes in the browser that started it. There is one per attempt, up to five at once, plus a list of the attempts in progress. | Up to 400 days, or until you sign out |
Stripe
The payments and payouts screens that group admins use are provided by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe sets its own cookies there for security and to prevent fraud. Stripe uses the same cookies on other websites that take payments through it, which helps it spot a fraudulent device it has seen before. Stripe's cookies are not set anywhere else in Groups App. The Stripe cookie policy lists them.
4. Your preferences
These are only set when you make a choice, such as collapsing the sidebar or switching to dark mode, and they only remember that choice. If you clear them, the website goes back to its defaults.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
sidebar:stateCookie | Remembers whether you collapsed the sidebar. | 7 days |
admin-banners:dismissedCookie | Remembers which notices you dismissed on a group’s admin pages. | 7 days |
themeLocal storage | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. | Until you clear it |
explore:viewLocal storage | Remembers whether you last looked at Explore as a list, a grid or a map. | Until you clear it |
dashboard-checklist-dismissed-v1Local storage | Keeps the getting-started checklist hidden once you dismiss it. | Until you clear it |
5. Analytics and error reporting
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page visits and measure how fast pages load. Neither sets cookies or stores anything in your browser, and neither can recognise you from one day to the next.
We use Sentry to find out when something breaks. When an error happens, Sentry receives technical details such as your browser version and the page you were on, and our internal ID for your account so we can trace the problem. It does not set cookies, and we configure it not to collect your IP address, your name or your email address.
6. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies, and clear local storage, in your browser's settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in. Clearing the preference items simply resets those choices.
7. Changes to this policy
If we start using a new cookie, we will add it here. If it is not strictly necessary and is not set by a choice you make, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
